Sabrina Gilmour

The protagonist of the South of the Middle Love Story. She's a serious foodie who loves to cook, bake, eat, critique, and write all about food. She works for the world renowned Joie Magazine, based in Chicago, Illinois. She was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her dad teaches at the West Point Military Academy while her mom is a jewelry artist from the island of Bali, Indonesia.

From the early age, she was attracted to cooking, having a neighbor who was a chef instructor at the Culinary Institute of America in the nearby town of Hyde Park. After high school, she went to get her Culinary Degree at the CIA while still living with her parents and older brother, Marcus. After finishing culinary school, Sabrina spent some time in Paris and Italy to hone in her cooking skills. After coming back home, she worked as sous chef at Jan Jeorges restaurant in New York City. She quit restaurant business after finding love in writing about food. She went and got her Master Degree from Columbia University in Creative Writing and Journalism while freelancing in food styling, food photography, and recipe writing for cook book authors and chefs around New York City.

After several published articles in big food magazines, Sabrina landed a job with Joie Magazine, her home for the last six years.

Sabrina married Peter Gilmour right after coming back from Europe and divorced him three years later. Since her divorce, she struggles in finding balance between career, love, and her own happiness. She's still true south to where she  thinks joy resides. Will she ever find her way?
